Product Walkthroughs

Follow along in the live app. Each walkthrough links to the exact screen and shows the screens you'll see, so you can do it side by side with this guide.

1. Create a product (foundation record)

Every material, component, and finished good starts here.

  1. Open the Products tableProducts →
  2. Create a new record.
  3. Fill the key fields: SKU (unique), Name, unit of measure, product type (raw material / component / finished good), and compliance flags (ITAR, DFARS, AS9100 relevant).
  4. Save. The product is now referenceable from BOMs, orders, inventory, and routings.

The Products table is the anchor for the entire data model.

2. Build a bill of material

  1. Open BOMs → and create a BOM for the parent (finished) product.
  2. Add BOM Components rows: component product, quantity per parent, scrap factor.
  3. Link the routing (operations) that build the product, if defined.
  4. Save. This structure feeds work order component creation.

3. Capture demand with a sales order

  1. Open Sales Orders → and create an order for a customer.
  2. Add Sales Order Items: product, quantity, unit price, promised date.
  3. Submit for approval (W10 approval routing runs automatically).
  4. This demand is now visible to the MRP run.

4. Run MRP and review the plan

  1. Open the MRP Run workflow →
  2. Trigger a run.
  3. Review MRP Requirement Lines → and Planned Orders →.
  4. Convert make orders to work orders and buy orders to purchase orders.

5. Execute on the shop floor

  1. Open the Work Orders → table or the Work Orders Workbench custom page.
  2. Select your work order and issue components (WO-2).
  3. Report labor on job cards as operations complete.
  4. Complete the work order (WO-3) — finished goods land in inventory automatically.

  2. Generate the customer Invoice (Invoice Creation) and post it (W14).
  3. Record Payments Received and run W15 to apply and post.

7. Track the money with the Accountant

  1. Review Invoices, Bills, and Payments tables.
  2. Verify postings in Journal Entries.
  3. Run period close procedures using Accounting Periods.
