Course 2 · Sales orders (demand capture)

Create a sales order

Open Sales Orders and create an order with customer, dates, and warehouse. Add items with product, quantity, unit price, and promised date.

Route for approval

Submit the order; W10 approval routing handles approvals by amount or rules.

Understand demand flow

Approved sales order items are demand for MRP. Keep dates accurate so the plan reflects the customer promise.

Exercise

  1. Create a sales order with two items for a customer.
  2. Submit it for approval and confirm status.
  3. Check the items are visible as demand for the next MRP run.

Build a Shipment for the order's completed items. Shipping triggers W12 shipment and COGS posting.

Run Invoice Creation to generate the customer Invoice from shipment data, then post it with W14.

Check that AR increased and COGS was recognized. Resolve discrepancies before the period closes.
