Course 1 · Work order basics

Find your work

Open Work Orders or the Work Orders Workbench custom page to see your queue, priorities, and due dates.

Read a work order

A work order shows the product to build, quantity, due date, components, and routing. Understand each field before starting.

Check readiness

Use the workbench's component readiness view: only start when components are available and issued.

Exercise

  1. Open the work order queue and identify your highest-priority order.
  2. Read its quantity, due date, and routing.
  3. Confirm components are ready.

Course 2 · Component issue

Prepare components

Confirm the component list against the work order before issuing. Flag shortages to the planner immediately.

Issue components

Run the WO-2 Issue Components workflow. It creates ledger entries and reduces on-hand inventory.

Handle shortages

If a component is short, do not start production: report the shortage so planning can expedite supply.

  3. Verify the stock ledger entries were created.

Course 3 · Labor reporting (job cards)

Understand job cards

Job Cards record labor and operation time against a work order. They feed costing and capacity reporting.

Report time accurately

Log actual hours per operation as you complete them. Accurate reporting protects labor cost and scheduling.

Close operations

Mark operations complete as you finish them so the work order status stays current.

  1. Open the job cards for your work order.
  2. Log the hours for the first operation.
  3. Mark the operation complete.

Course 4 · Work order completion

Verify before completing

Confirm all components are issued and operations/job cards are reported before completion.

Complete the work order

Run WO-3 Complete Work Order. It prevents double completion, creates a completion ledger entry, and adds finished goods to inventory.

After completion

Verify the work order shows Completed and the finished goods landed in inventory. Report any discrepancy to the planner.

  3. Confirm status, inventory quantity, and ledger entry.
